Boots on the Ground in Chiang Mai

We finally arrived at our destination shortly before lunchtime today. This was after about 24 hours in the air. The first thing we did after checking in was to hit Burger King. Whoppers are the same everywhere.

A trip to the top of a nearby mountain was the highlight of the day. (More on this in a later post.) Later on, we had the opportunity to enjoy some local food and walk through the night bazaar in Chiang Mai. It's good to be over here. There is something very right about this.

Tomorrow, we will have our on-site orientation to learn exactly how to do the job that God and the International Mission Board have given us. Following orientation, we will travel by van to Lampang. We will spend three days working in Lampang before going to do the same kind of work in Phrae.

Thank you all for your prayers. God has been so gracious to us, and He is showing us a world of need that cannot be imagined in the States. Pray not only for us, but pray, pray for the Northern Thai. There is no help for them without someone ministering the gospel, and how will they receive the gospel without our prayers and commitment and work? As Isaiah writes: "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news...."

Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. It's great being able to follow where you are and what you're seeing. Dyda called to let me know that one of her friends is going on the same trip later in October and I've shared this website with them, as well. Please be careful and know that you all are in our prayers daily. God Bless ...
